DescriptionShellmod lets you write module using bash and perl and offers some limited access to Linuxconf framework. You have access to:

  • The user interface (text,HTML,GUI transparently).
  • The co-manager facility.

You can also write standalone utility (script operating without Linuxconf). For this you need the linuxconf-lib and linuxconf-util package. A module may be used both way btw (as a module or standalone).

Command lineThe command line for the shellmod module are:

  • --build

    Fire the module builder. It gets you started faster when you create a new shellmod module by generating the template.

  • --setmod module

    Register a new shellmod module in Linuxconf.

  • --unsetmod module

    Unregistrer a shellmod module from Linuxconf.

PrivilegesThere is no way to define privileges at this point in a shellmod module. User must always be root or provide the root password to get in. This is enforced by the shellmod module itself. Using the usermenu module, it is possible to grant access to shellmod module to ordinary users.
