Web mode

The HTTP mode on port 98 does not work with redhat 7.1 (And 7.0). There are two issues. First, the service is disabled in /etc/xinetd.d/linuxconf-web. Edit this file and change the "disable=yes" to "disable=no". This follows the logic that unless you know you need a network service, you probably don't need it, so it it off by default.

The other problem is that the xinetd package is buggy. it does not handle a TCP service of type WAIT properly. A fix is available at ftp://ftp.solucorp.qc.ca/pub/misc . Pick the file xinetd-2.1.8.9pre14-9wait.i386.rpm.

This update is based on RedHat own update. If you find something newer on RedHat site, pick it.

Then after installing the update, restart the service

	rpm -Uvh xinetd-2.1.8.9pre14-9wait.i386.rpm
	/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart
